There is a level of awareness that Rey has regarding her lack of guilt for stealing the sacred Jedi Texts from their generations old home on the island. That being said, it's often dulled by the knowledge of Master Skywalker's insistence that there was no more need for the Jedi when she knew that there was, or at least was incredibly sure that there was.

She had made an attempt or two to read through the old texts, but they were not exactly what could be called page turners, and the heavy going dry information was made only worse by the fact that age had dulled the appearance of the text, making it hard to make out what was actually written. That was the main reason she was so sure she had gotten it wrong. After all, everyone knew that the Jedi never married, so why would there be mention of marriage rites in theirs texts?

But they were there and that sinking feeling in her stomach made it clear to her that no, she wasn't misreading. If this was right...

Did he know? He had read these, hadn't he? Or, at least the Histories? Could that be why he made that offer?

Rey had thought that reading the texts would help clear her confusion, but now she felt more confused than ever

She stared.

"Is... that even possible?"

He just shrugged. "Apparently. I don't understand it but. It happened."

Rey shook her head slowly, finding all of this very hard to believe. "No, but, that's not how people work. You can't just... be born without..." She paused, gesturing awkwardly, feeling a flush starting on her cheeks.

She was not ignorant of the universe, and how things worked. However, discussing that in any sense around Ben felt... awkward somehow. Like a stark reminder of ... Of something, but she didn't know what.

He felt himself flushing as she trailed off. "I know. Believe me, I know. But it still happened."

"It seems... impossible. You need to do... that for it to happen." She could still feel the flush, not daring to look at him. Why was she feeling so ... odd about this? She never had before.

It might have been related to how flustered he was about the topic. "I know. But tell that to my grandfather."

Another strong flush at that. "I'd rather not, thank you."

Kylo couldn't help a quiet laugh. "It would probably be an interesting discussion."

"I'd really rather not have it!"

Talking to her ... her husband's grandfather about that. No thank you.

"Just like you'd rather I keep a cowl on, right?"

He just couldn't help it. The slight tease just slipped out.

Oh, and the flush grew. That was not a fair tease, especially not now. It hadn't exactly been fair then, when she was realising he wasn't the monster she cast him as and she had to be given physical proof he was ... attractive and now her head was making her feel flustered.

"Why couldn't you put one on?!"

That just made his own flush grow. "I didn't bring one into the fresher with me! I wasn't expecting company."

"Well, it's not like I expected the Force to join us at that moment!"

She couldn't look him in the eye, just remember seeing him like that. Were her cheeks burning? It felt like they were burning.

As much as his face still felt hot, he couldn't help smiling slightly. "I did not either. Or I would have been wearing a tunic. And, perhaps, a cowl."

It was just out of the corner her eye that Rey noticed the smile, and she wasn't really sure how to react to that. It wasn't that his smile was unpleasant, the opposite actually if she was made to be honest. It's just that under the circumstances, it felt odd to see it.

"Well... good."

"It's not like I want to show off my scars."

It probably said a lot about how people in the Resistance just talked around each other that a flood of comments came to Rey's mind at that comment. She looked round, eyes flicking to the scar she left there.

"...We've all got them."

"That doesn't mean...". He couldn't meet her eyes. "Not all scars are the same."

"But they all leave a mark." She was still frowning at the one she'd left on him. A mark that would never leave.

He shrugged. "They don't all have stories worth telling."

"Yeah," she gave a tight smile. Rey knew that one well enough from her own scars. All gotten from a life on Jakku, none had stories worth sharing with anyone.

He shrugged. The problem was that most of Kylo's scars were the kind he wanted to hide the stories if he couldn't just forget them. Sometimes he wondered what his family would have said if they knew. Then again, they hadn't cared when he was still with them. Why would they care about anything after they got rid of him?

They would care, of course they would. Han had let himself be stabbed just because he thought it might help bring his boy home. Of course they would care, Rey would tell him

... She wasn't counting Luke's weirdly stubborn stance on his nephew. He had caused enough trouble by making people's decisions for them.

"What is it, Rey?"

He sighed, looking out one of the view ports. The white lines of hyperspace had a mesmerizing quality.

"...I think someone's coming."

It wasn't what she intended to say, but it was true. She was staring at something on her side, a noise that she could hear but he couldn't.

And then the Bond cut off
